Session Descriptions

Banner Navigation – familiarizes users with the Banner program. The session provides instruction in the Banner basics such as the various types and parts of forms, name/ID search, data queries, data extraction, quickflows and setting up a personal menu. This class is a pre-requisite for all other Banner sessions.

Population Selection – is a beginner course that provides hands on instruction in utilizing Banner to retrieve lists of students, employees or vendors who meet certain criteria. The session covers defining criteria rules, querying a selected population, adding and removing people from a population, using objects and using a sub-query variable. As a final exercise, participants will create a population selection specifically designed to meet their departments' needs. Participants should be familiar with Banner Navigation.

Beginning Requisition & Receiver Input – is a hands on session that will provide practice creating requisitions and receivers. It covers different types of requisitions and receivers as well as how to track a requisition from the time you enter it until it is received and paid. The session also includes trouble shooting various error messages, changing data within a completed requisition and canceling a requisition. Participants should already be familiar with Banner Navigation.

Advanced Requisitions & Receivers with Budget Query – is a hands on session that will review requisition and receiver input as well as provide in-depth instruction on approvals and budgets. The session covers interpreting budget status reports, on-line budget monitoring including transaction details, and encumbrance liquidation. Participants should already have taken Beginner Requisition & Receiver Input.
