Long Distance
What is Long Distance Service?
Long Distance is calling to any location outside of the local calling area, including both domestic and international calling. All University department's long distance dialing and billing services are handled through the Telecom Department. Students are required to complete an application to receive these same services. The Telecom Department will provide an authorization code to the user to be used from any University telephone extension to make long distance calls. The current long distance provider for the University is Qwest. You can apply for long distance service using our convenient online request form.
Long Distance Dialing
Florida Tech Long Distance System as carrier:
You can call any domestic or international number from any extension on campus. Simply dial 9 + 1 and the number you are calling (area code first) and enter your Authorization Code when prompted.
If you need to change your Authorization Code, please visit the Telecom office during normal office hours. (Bring your Student ID Card!!)
All other carriers:
Each carrier will provide you with a toll-free access number. After dialing 9 and the access number, each carrier will provide a voice prompt with instructions for completing the call.
What is the current cost for long distance services?
There is no connection, monthly, or per call access cost charged under the Florida Tech Long Distance Service Plan. All domestic calls are 9 cents ($0.09) per minute.
