How to set up IMAP or POP in Mac Mail

The following steps will allow you to access your campus email using the Mac Mail client. This article applies to mail stored on the mailhost server, also access through Squirrelmail, often referred to as POP email. This article does not apply to staff and faculty who are using Exchange.

  1. Start Mail. Continue.
  2. Select POP or IMAP as the Account Type.
  3. Fill in Account Description, Full Name, and E-mail Address fields. Continue.
  4. Incoming Mail Server will be "mailhost.fit.edu" without the quotes.
  5. The User Name and Password will be of your TRACKS account. Continue.
  6. Outgoing Mail Server will be "mailhost.fit.edu" without the quotes.
  7. Leave the Use Authentication unchecked.
  8. Continue. Continue. Done.
