How to set up IMAP or POP in Thunderbird 2
The following steps will allow you to access your campus email using the Thunderbird 2 client. This article applies to mail stored on the mailhost server, also access through Squirrelmail, often referred to as POP email. This article does not apply to staff and faculty who are using Exchange.
- Open Thunderbird
- File -> New -> Account
- Select "Email account". Next.
- Fill in Name and Email address fields. Next.
- Select type: POP or IMAP.
- Both Incoming Server and Outgoing Server are "mailhost.fit.edu" without quotes, Next.
- Type in your TRACKS username. Next.
- Give your email account a name to distinguish from other, if any, accounts. Next.
- Finish.
- Tools -> Account Settings -> [account name] -> Server Settings
- Under Security Settings, select SSL. OK.
